Government Of India, to protect the Ancient Monuments and Archaeological Sites and Remains, enacted the Ancient Monuments And Archaeological Sites and Remains (Amendment and Validation) Act 2010, which came in to effect on the 23rd day of January, 2010.
The Regional Commissioner, Belgaum Division, Belgaum, Karnataka has been appointed as Competent Authority as per section 2(db) of the AMASR Act 2010 and wide notification No S O 140 (E) dated 20th January , 2011.
The Competent Authority i.e. Regional Commissioner, Belgaum Division, Belgaum, Under the said Act, has got jurisdiction over total twelve Districts of the Belgaum and Gulbarga Divisions. Division wise the list of Districts is as under

POWERS OF COMPETENT AUTHORITY
The Regional Commissioner as Competent Authority under the said Act has got the following powers
1) To receive the applications for NOC for construction, re-construction, renovation and repair of existing building or structure in prohibited area or regulated area as the case may be, as per the provisions of the AMASR Act 2010 and the competent Authority Rules
2) The competent Authority has power to dispose NOC applications receive under category VI and VII as specified in the rules i.e. for renovation and repair of existing building or structure in prohibited / regulated area
3) NOC applications receive for construction, re-construction of existing building or structure in prohibited / regulated area as the case may be, after following the due procedure laid down in the NMA and CA Rules, will be referred to NMA for further consideration
